Growing Green - NC GreenPower continues success in 2007

As 2007 draws to a close, NC GreenPower reports another year of new subscribers, expanded generation and increased growth for North Carolina's home-grown renewable energy program. The past year saw growth in every aspect of the program. This growth comes amidst a dramatic increase in program awareness outreach statewide.

In addition to an increase in visibility for NC GreenPower, the addition of a full-time business development manager in late 2006 has resulted in a significant increase in the number of participating corporate sponsors. Large volume purchasers, such as small and large business, as well as government and industry, help to make possible major additions of renewable energy projects to the state's energy supply.

Here is a summary of some of the major achievements of 2007:

    • 12,590 residential and small business customers - 28.4% increase from previous year
    • Increased large-volume corporate green power sales 136%
    • Increased green energy purchases by nearly 40%
    • Added 64 new renewable energy generators statewide
    • Expanded website traffic 100% over 2006
    • NC GreenPower now offered to customers in 44 electric utilities

As NC GreenPower continues to grow, it still relies heavily on the testimonials and word of mouth of it's more than 12,000 participants statewide. Help us to share the news about the exciting things happening with renewable energy in North Carolina. Tell someone about NC GreenPower today and make our state even greener!
