NC Pork Council extends sponsorship
of NC GreenPower |
|||||
The NC Pork Council has announced their ongoing, long-term support of NC GreenPower, following their first year as a Supporter-level sponsor of the program. During their first 12 months of sponsorship the Council subscribed more than 14,000 blocks of cleaner, more abundant renewable electricity to be generated in North Carolina by suppliers of the NC GreenPower program. |

Each block subscribed will add 100 kWh of green power to the state’s electric supply. The sponsorship will offset as much as 3 million pounds of carbon dioxide that would be generated from an equivalent amount of energy being produced by a coal plant. The offset in carbon dioxide emissions is environmentally equivalent to more than 3.5 million miles not driven by automobiles on North Carolina roads. With animal waste to energy projects providing a great long-term potential for North Carolina’s agricultural community, the NC Pork Council sponsorship of NC GreenPower will enable these technologies to grow around the state.
