NC GreenPower Board Accepting Seat Nominations
NCUC Docket No. E-100, Sub 90
NC GreenPower (NCGP) is a statewide program designed to improve
the quality of the environment by encouraging the development of
renewable energy resources through consumers' voluntary funding
of green power purchases by electric utilities in North Carolina.
The program revenues help provide financial incentives for generators
of electricity from renewable sources.
NC GreenPower, per its approved program plan, requested that the
N. C. Utilities Commission (NCUC) begin to accept nominations in
order to appoint the four Directors seats for the NC GreenPower
Board of Directors whose terms expire September 30, 2004. The four
seats represent two consumer/environmental advocacy seats, one solar
technology seat and one hydro technology seat.
The following is an excerpt from the NC GreenPower program plan
regarding the Director’s seats:
The North Carolina Utilities Commission shall appoint the green
power technology members, (from different technologies when available)
and the green power consumer/environmental advocacy members. It
is recommended to the Commission that the Environmental Representative
on the Energy Policy Council be one of the six appointees to NCGP.
Any NC resident may request that a name be put on the list considered
by and appointed by the North Carolina Utilities Commission for
appointment to the NCGP Board. The green power technology members
and green power consumer/environmental advocacy members term appointments
shall be for three years on a staggered schedule.
Nominations will close July 30, 2004. To be considered, nominations
must be signed and received at the NCUC no later than July 30. If
you would like to nominate yourself or someone else to be considered
for one of the open seats, please visit the NCUC’s
website and select the document entitled "Order Accepting
Nominations for NC GreenPower Board of Directors" for specific
information about how to nominate someone. The NCUC’s site
also contains the final program plan for NCGP and additional information
such as the Bylaws, Articles of Incorporation, and copies of any
prior board nominations. Please visit www.ncgreenpower.org for any
current information about NC GreenPower’s activities or the
current board members names.
The 22 member board will meet approximately two to four times per
year. It meets for the better part of a day during the work week
usually in the Raleigh area. The board helps set policy for the
NC GreenPower program and provides guidance and support. It is a
diverse group of individuals most of whom are actively involved
in the energy field, but others have demonstrated involvement with
consumer and environmental advocacy.
