About NC GreenPower > Board
In 2001, a planning committee representing
consumers, electric utilities, the environmental community, technology
suppliers, the State Energy Office, and Advanced Energy began working
together to bring green energy to North Carolina. The result was
the creation of NC GreenPower, a non-profit corporation whose mission
is to improve the quality of the environment by encouraging the
development of renewable energy resources through consumers' voluntary
contributions toward green power purchases by electric utilities
in North Carolina. Today the NC GreenPower Board of Directors consists of 22 members representing the diverse group of stakeholders who continue to be instrumental in the evolution of the program. The Board is selected by the North Carolina Utilities Commission. Nominations are sought annually for open seats.
