Make a tax-deductable donation to NC GreenPower today!

NC GreenPower is an independent, 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization providing an easy and affordable opportunity for you to balance your impact on the environment right now. Donate to local Renewable Energy projects that support cleaner energy sources and Carbon Offset projects that mitigate greenhouse gases. Combined with your personal energy conservation, NC GreenPower’s Renewable Energy and Carbon Offsets help you create a cleaner and greener environment.

Annually, our donors support nearly 30 million kWh of electricity generation from renewable energy generators in North Carolina - enough to power about 2,000 homes, offsetting about 32 million pounds of coal to produce an equivalent amount of energy. With clean energy sources like the sun, wind and organic matter, we can generate cleaner electricity and mitigate harmful greenhouse gases. A cleaner environment means a healthier one for you and your family!

Working today to build our supply of Renewable Energy sources will give us a more secure energy future. Plus, it’s one more step toward fuel independence. Carbon Offset projects improve regional air quality and the environment. And, a portion of your donation helps to support outreach and education of our program across the state.

Sign up to contribute to NC GreenPower – it’s easy! Simply visit your utility's website, sign up on our website or call us toll free, 866-533-NCGP (6247). Help us by joining NC GreenPower and balance your impact on the environment!

Did you know?

  • Nationwide, between Thanksgiving & Christmas, we throw away a MILLION EXTRA TONS of waste each WEEK.
  • In Raleigh each week, 3,000 tons of waste is discarded. During those six weeks it jumps up to 3,750 tons!
  • 1.9 billion holiday cards are sent every year, filling a football field 10 stories high. That's almost 300,000 trees!
  • During the holidays, at least 28 billion pounds of edible food are wasted each year - almost 100 lbs per person.
  • Half of the paper America consumes is used to wrap & decorate consumer products.
  • If each family wrapped 3 gifts in reused materials, enough paper is saved to cover 45,000 football fields.
  • If each family reduced holiday gasoline consumption by 1 gallon, we'd reduce GHG emissions by 1 million tons.
  • According to a national survey, 70% of Americans would welcome less emphasis on gift giving & spending.

NC GreenPower announces a change in premium and capacity limit accepted for new small solar PV agreements, effective January 1, 2011 - The maximum premium for all new small solar PV agreements of 5 kW or less will be adjusted to $0.10 per kWh generated, effective January 1, 2011. This represents a change from the current rate of $0.15 and capacity of 10 kW or less and will be effective for all applications received after December 31, 2010. In order to receive the current premium of $0.15 per kWh for solar PV of 10 kW or less, generators must either complete the small solar PV online application no later than 5 p.m. on December 31, 2010 OR submit a hard copy of the application postmarked no later than December 31, 2010. All applications received after the deadline will be subject to the new premium and capacity restriction.
